PD Act will be invoked against land grabbers: Anantapur Police

Police have warned of invoking of PD Act against those who resort to land grabbing. The Police registered cases against eight persons for allegedly encroaching land in Anantapur city limits.

Anantapur Urban DSP Srinivasa Rao said the III Town police have registered cases against the eight persons for encroaching a private land and erecting temporary huts in Lecturers Colony. According to Mr. Srinivasa Rao, C Satyanarayana Reddy, C Subba Reddy, P Chandra Reddy and V Ramamuni Reddy of Tadipatri town have purchased a 66.5 cents land in Lecturers Colony of Anantapur city in 2010 from K. Jayalakshmi and constructed a boundary wall around the land.

On February 2, some persons entered into the land, demolished the compound wall and erected temporary huts in the land. When the owners went to claim their land, the accused threatened them and forced them to leave from there. Based on a complaint by one of the land owners Satyanarayana Reddy, the police have registered a case under sections of Land Grabbing Act against the eight persons. Mr Srinivasa Rao said cases will be registered against some others for their alleged involvement in land grabbing.

“Land grabbing and encroaching on others land forcibly will not be spared and PD Act will be invoked against land grabbers,” the Anantapur Urban DSP warned.
