Prime Minister Narendra Modi, addressing his final rally on Sunday (February 2, 2025) ahead of the Delhi Assembly elections, said that only the BJP respects the middle class of the country and the Union Budget presented on Saturday (February 1, 2025) was to ensure that “Modi’s guarantees” were fulfilled.

“For building Viksit Bharat, I gave a guarantee to strengthen four pillars. These pillars are farmers, youth, poor and women. The budget presented yesterday ensures that the guarantees of Modi are fulfilled. In the past years, we have given free ration, free health treatment and pucca houses to the poor,” Mr. Modi said, addressing a rally at Delhi’s R.K.Puram.
“Yesterday’s budget was a budget for the people of this country. The BJP government is investing the money of this country into roads, schools, hospitals, infrastructure and more,” Mr. Modi said.

Further praising the budget, he said, “The newspapers are filled with reports about the Budget because its the people’s budget. Over the last decade, India’s economy has risen from the 10th to the 5th largest in the world, indicating that it is growing stronger and that citizens’ income is increasing. If the situation had been like it was in the past, the rising earnings of the country would likely have been compromised by scams.”
He said that the country’s middle class contributed greatly towards development, adding, “It is only BJP which respects the middle class and rewards honest taxpayers.“
“Let me paint a picture for you. If it was the Nehru Government, and you were earning ₹12 lakh (per annum), then approximately 1/4th of your salary would’ve gone to the government. Under the Indira Gandhi government, you would have to give over ₹2 lakh in tax. But now in the BJP government, someone earning ₹12 lakh per annum will not have to give any money to the government,” he added.
He further said Congress governments only filled their own coffers with tax money but the BJP cared about relief for the people.
Talking about youth and employment, he said, “For Viksit Bharat, we need the youth of our country. That’s why in this budget, we have put aside thousands and crores of money for them and tried to bring in jobs. The no tax under ₹12 lakh will benefit the youth the most, who are doing their first or second jobs..”
He said that several youth were working as gig workers in Delhi and these jobs were possible due to the BJP-led government’s push for Digital India. “And now BJP is looking to register these gig workers, on a portal, and that will give them unlimited benefits from the government including the benefits of insurance. I am seeing that this is making them happy already,” he added.

Attacking the rule Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in Delhi, Mr. Modi continued calling it “AAP-da” (danger) and said that the party stood “exposed” in front of the people of Delhi. “The leaders of AAPda are leaving the party because they know that the people hate AAPda party. AAPda is so shocked that they are resorting to false announcements.“
He asked the people of Delhi to give one chance for the BJP and guaranteed that when elected to power, his party will fulfil all its guarantees.
