Police constable ends life at Madurai Bench of Madras High Court

A police constable M. Mahalingam (30) allegedly ended his life while on duty at Madurai Bench of Madras High Court in Madurai in the early hours of Thursday (November 27, 2025).

His body has been taken to Government Rajaji hospital.

The police said that the constable, attached to 6th Batallion of Tamil Nadu Special Police, was on guard duty at the main gate of the High Court premises.

The victim, a native of Peraiyur, is a 2022-batch constable.

Though the cause for the extreme act was not known immediately, the police said that the deceased had reportedly left a note in which he had said that no one was responsible for his death.

Further investigation is underway.
