Raveendran Sankaran calls Khelo India Youth Games a landmark moment for Bihar
The seventh edition of the Khelo India Youth Games will take place across five cities in Bihar from May 4 to 15, with over 8,500 athletes and 1,500 technical staff participating. The event will be hosted in Patna, Gaya, Nalanda, Bhagalpur, and Begusarai, marking a significant milestone for Bihar in the country’s sports landscape.
Raveendran Sankaran, Director General of the Bihar State Sports Authority (BSSA), expressed immense pride in the State’s growing sports stature. “This is Bihar. We don’t just write history — we create it. What you witness today is another chapter in the history we are building,” Sankaran said during the unveiling ceremony.
He credited the State’s rapid sports development to the leadership of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. “Under his guidance, we’ve seen significant strides, including the recognition of eight Padma awardees, three of whom are from Bihar. We are moving toward a future where all eight could very well be from Bihar,” he added.
Sankaran also acknowledged the support of Deputy Chief Minister and Sports Minister, as well as Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister, Deepak Kumar, for their constant encouragement. He concluded by thanking Prime Minister Narendra Modi for providing Bihar with the opportunity to host this prestigious event, reinforcing the State’s emerging role as a powerhouse in Indian sports.
