Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK) president Anbumani Ramadoss on Thursday sought the intervention of Chief Minister M.K. Stalin on the alleged irregularities in the selection process of the National Means-cum-Merit Scholarship (NMMS) Examination conducted by the Directorate of Government Examinations, Tamil Nadu, to avail the scholarship provided by the Union government.

In a post on X, Dr. Anbumani said several allegations had surfaced following the announcement of the results of the examination. A total of 6,695 students from Tamil Nadu are to be selected for the NMMS through two tests. They must secure a minimum of 40% both tests to be considered eligible.

However, in the recently released list, many students who did not score 40% in one of the tests had been selected. Since they scored higher marks in the other test, it has been claimed that their average score in both tests exceeded 40% and, hence, they were selected for the scholarship.

At the same time, many students who secured at least 40% marks in both tests were not selected. “This is both incorrect and against the principle of social justice,” he said, and demanded the list be revised by including only those who secured at least 40% marks in both tests.
