Ryan Williams becomes eligible to play for India
Bengaluru FC forward Ryan Williams has become eligible to play for the Indian men’s football team as per FIFA’s Players’ Status Chamber (PSC) decision, the All India Football Federation (AIFF) said on Thursday.
According AIFF, the PSC issued its final decision on Wednesday.
“Following the submission, FIFA’s Players’ Status Chamber reviewed the request in alignment with the standards set out in the RGAS. The Chamber delivered its decision on November 19, confirming that all eligibility criteria had been satisfied and approving the player’s change of association to India,” the AIFF said in a statement.
“With the ruling now in effect, Ryan Williams is officially eligible for selection to the Indian national team,” it added.

Williams was part of the 23-man contingent that travelled to Bangladesh for India’s AFC Asian Cup 2027 qualifier match on Wednesday, but did not feature in the matchday squad. He needed a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from Football Australia, which arrived very late.
He got his NOC only on November 18, meaning that the team could not register him before the 11:59 pm deadline on November 17.
India ended up losing the match 0-1 and sits at the bottom of its group with two points from five games.
