Bollywood superstar Salman Khan, during his latest appearance on The Great Indian Kapil Show, opened up about the many ongoing health issues he is suffering from. The actor said that he is working at the age of 59 despite suffering from health issues like trigeminal neuralgia, brain aneurysm and arteriovenous malformation.
The actor said this when the show’s host, Kapil Sharma, asked Salman about his thoughts on getting married, which in turn made the superstar reflect on his life and health concerns. The actor stated that facing a divorce and the financial repercussions of the same will be tougher for someone at his age.
“Hum ye jo daily ki haddiyan tudwa rahe hain, pasliyan toot gai, trigeminal neuralgia ke sath kaam kar rahe hain, aneurysm hai brain mein uske bawajood kaam kar rahe hain. AV malformation hai, uske bawajood chal rahe hain (I’m out there breaking my bones every day; my ribs are fractured; I work despite having trigeminal neuralgia; there’s an aneurysm in the brain, and yet I’m still working. There’s also an AV malformation),” said the actor.
“All of this is going on in my life. Aur jahan unka mood satka, woh aadha humara leke chala gaya. Ye younger age mein hota toh theek tha, phirse kama lete. Ab wapis se… (And the moment their mood soured, they will take away half of what I had. If this had happened when I was younger, it would have been fine. I could’ve earned it all back. But starting all over again now…),” he added.
This isn’t the first time Salman has opened up about his health concerns. In 2017, at an event in Dubai, the actor spoke about his struggles with trigeminal neuralgia, a facial nerve condition that affects the trigeminal nerve and results in intense pain in the face.
Meanwhile, a brain aneurysm is a bulge or ballooning in a blood vessel within the brain, typically occurring in middle-aged and older adults. Symptoms include severe headache or loss of consciousness. Aneurysms smaller than 5 millimetres are generally not deemed dangerous. However, if an aneurysm ruptures, it can lead to a hemorrhagic stroke or even death.
An arteriovenous malformation, on the other hand, is a defect that causes blood to flow directly from arteries to veins, bypassing capillaries, that can disrupt oxygen supply to nearby tissues. AVMs can cause severe bleeding, seizures and headaches.
