Senior draughting officer arrested for graft in Salem

The Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption (DVAC) sleuths nabbed a senior draughting officer for bribery on Tuesday (July 22, 2025).

Shanmugam, a contractor who got a tender to install electrical appliances at the Government Higher Secondary School in Jari Kondalampatti, approached the Public Works Department office at Hasthampatti for getting consent. But the senior draughting officer, Ravi, demanded ₹ 1 lakh as bribe . Unwilling to give the bribe amount, Mr. Shanmugam approached the Salem DVAC.

On Tuesday afternoon, as per the directions of the DVAC, he handed over the bribe to Ravi at the PWD office. The sleuths who were hiding near the office nabbed Ravi. The DVAC registered a case and arrested him.
