Stand up for what is fair and just, law students told

Judge of the High Court of Karnataka Venkatesh Naik T.  has emphasised need for law students to stand up for what is fair and just and never waver from their commitment to justice.

Inaugurating the 11th Kannada Moot Court Competition organised by Karnataka State Law University (KSLU) in Hubballi on Saturday, he said that it is most important for law students to maintain Swadharma, inculcate principles ,work hard and maintain dignity in court halls.

Emphasising the need for participating in moot court competitions as they help in enhancement of writing skills, research skills, oral advocacy skills, analytical skills and critical thinking, he said that these skills are crucial for court room success and vital attributes for a successful legal career.

Elaborating on various legal career options for students, he said that law students should explore options of being Panel Advocate, Judge, Notary, Government Pleader, Advocate General, jobs and partnership in law firms and so on.

Mr. Naik stressed on the need for students to make efforts to have an understanding of varied fields as it will help in their career and also called upon them to become models for others through their good professional and personal conduct.

Presiding over the inaugural session, Vice-Chancellor of KSLU C. Basavaraju said that the legal fraternity has the enormous responsibility of working towards building a healthy society and to make it free from all social evils.

Prof. Basavaraju said that teaching law and values together will bring about a positive change in society.

Registrar Evaluation and Director KSLU Law School Ratna Bharamagoudar, Finance Officer Sanjeev Kumar Singh and others were present.

Students of law schools from across the State are participating in the annual event.
