Super Cup | Blasters inch closer to semifinal with easy win over Sporting Club

Kerala Blasters (KBFC) was at its attacking best as it hammered three goals without reply against Sporting Club Delhi (SCD) in their AIFF Super Cup Group D match at the GMC Athletic Stadium here on Monday.
Koldo Obieta found the net twice, while Thingujam Korou Singh scored with a brilliant overhead kick in a dominant victory.
KBFC constantly had five men — Obieta, Noah Sadaoui, Nihal Sudheesh, Adrian Luna and Korou — on the prowl for loose balls.
They found their prey in Ayush Adhikari’s soft back-pass in the 18th minute, with Obieta latching onto it and burying it into the net past Vishal Yadav.
Adhikari’s mistake led to another goal within five minutes when Dusan Lagator, Korou and Sudheesh combined to set up Obieta, who struck his second of the day.
Just after the half-hour mark, the Blasters went three up: Luna’s cheeky lobbed ball into the box was struck into the net by Korou.
SCD’s biggest chance came in the 88th minute when Augustine Lalrochana took a shot on target from inside the box, only for Nora Fernandes – KBFC’s goalkeeper – to secure a clean sheet with his right leg.
In the other Group D match, Rajasthan United (RUFC) stunned Mumbai City (MCFC) with a 1-0 win at the PJN Stadium in Margao.
Robinson Blandon scored the winner, with RUFC becoming the first second-division side to win a match in this edition of the tournament.
Group open
RUFC’s victory keeps the group open as three teams — Rajasthan, KBFC and MCFC — will vie for a lone semifinal spot. However, anything but a loss for KBFC will see it through.
The results:
Kerala Blasters 3 (Obieta 18 & 23, Korou 34) bt Sporting Club Delhi 0
Rajasthan United 1 (Blandon 43) bt Mumbai City FC 0.
