TH Impact: Domestic help assault: 3 staff suspended, PSI faces action
Following the alleged assault on a 34-year-old domestic help by the staff of the Varthur police station over allegations of theft, an inquiry has led to the suspension of three policemen.
According to officials, on October 30, Priyanka Jhanwal, a resident of Sobha Dream Acres Apartment, lodged a complaint alleging that her domestic help, Sundari Bibi, had stolen a diamond ring.
Sub-inspector Mounesh Doddamani registered a non-cognisable report in connection with the complaint before stepping out of the station.
In his absence, the crime staff- identified as Sanjay Rathod, Santosh Kudari, and Archana- allegedly assaulted the help on the first floor of the police stationduring questioning.
Following the incident, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Marathahalli sub-division, conducted an inquiry and submitted a detailed report. Based on the findings, the three personnel were suspended, and Rule 7 proceedings were initiated against sub-inspectorDoddamani for lack of supervision.
ACP, Marathahalli sub-division, conducted the probe on Tuesday following the order from the city Police Commissioner seeking a report.
Earlier in the day, Home Minister, G. Parameshwara took cognizance of the incident and directed the city Police Commissioner to probe in detail and submit a report.
