Tirupati student bags bronze in Asian Schools Blitz Chess Championship

Tirupati GITAM School student V. Tripurambika secured seven points and bagged the bronze medal in the 19th Asian Schools Blitz Chess Championship 2025 held at Ulaanbaatar in Mongolia recently. She won the third place with a classical rating of 1725 and a Blitz rating of 1741.

Meanwhile, Mongolian Prime Minister Gombojavyn Zandanshatar congratulated her after knowing that she was the youngest chess player from India at the event.

According to Tirupati District Chess Association secretary H. Srinivasa Suri, the championship witnessed participation from 16 countries across Asia. “Competing in the under-13 girls’ category, Tripurambika secured third place, showcasing exceptional skill, determination and composure throughout the tournament,” he said.

She was felicitated by TUDA Chairman C. Divakar Reddy, while her school correspondent Tammineni Venkateswarlu and principal Kinnera Sridevi congratulated her for the accomplishment. “GITAM feels very proud of Tripurambika’s achievement and looks forward to seeing her emerge as a future Grand Master,” Mr. Venkateswarlu said.
