Two devotees on padayatra to Dharmasthala die in accident near Hassan

Two pedestrians on a padayatra (foot march) to Dharmasthala were ran over by a private bus on National Highway 75, near Hassan early morning on Sunday (February 23, 2025).

Suresh, 60, and Kumar, 50, of K.R. Pet taluk in Mandya district were among hundreds of devotees on a padayatra to Dharmasthala in Dakshina Kannada distant to take part in Shivaratri on February 26. They died on the spot, while another person suffered injuries.

Shantigrama Police reached the place on receiving information about the accident. They shifted the injured to a hospital in Hassan.

Devotees from various parts of the State take out padayatra to Dharmasthala ahead of Shivarathri every year.
