Vaigai dam water to be released through Nilaiyur Extension Canal from today

Water will be released from Vaigai dam to fill 94 system tanks under Nilaiyur Extension Canal for 10 days from Thursday.

A Government Order said that water requirement for the traditional irrigation areas under Vaigai river water sharing formula had been fulfilled for the year. Considering 2,752.24 mcft of Vaigai credit in storage as of January 31, as a special case, water would be released to the irrigation tanks for the benefit of cattle and people of the region.

The G.O. said that 300 cusecs of water would be released through Nilaiyur Extension Canal for 10 days till February 15.
