Lionel Messi opened his account in the Major League Soccer 2025 season after scoring in the match against Atlanta United at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium on Monday.
This was his first start in the league after not featuring in the squad against Houston Dynamos and being an unused substitute in its previous game against Charlotte.
After Emmanuel Latter Lath gave the home side the lead in the 11th minute, Messi found the equaliser nine minutes later after pouncing on a mistake from the Atlanta defence.

After three games, Miami is currently second in the Eastern Conference with seven points, two behind leader Philadelphia Union.
Atlanta on the other hand, comes into the game on the back of a loss and and draw against Charlotte and New York Red Bulls respectively. It is currently 11th in the conference with four points from three matches
