There is a sense of anticipation in Los Angeles regarding the potential debut of the city’s latest basketball superstar, Luka Doncic, who was brought in from Dallas Mavericks in a scarcely-believable trade a few days ago.

The 25-year-old Slovenian was seen courtside during the Los Angeles Lakers win over city rival Clippers two days ago but was not in contention to participate following a calf injury.

The Warriors game will be a step too quick for Doncic, and the following games against the Indiana Pacers and the Utah Jazz seem like a more realistic possibility.

Lakers coach JJ Reddick too confirmed that the Slovenian had completed his first practice session since joining from the Mavs.

“We’re kind of just assessing it day by day,” Redick said. “We hope to have him back within the next few games. We just had non-contact practice today. He’ll have some more opportunities to play live basketball, and then we’ll make a decision on Saturday. If it’s not Saturday, hopefully it’s Monday. [But] those decisions will be made on Saturday.”
