Will probe reports of ‘2nd stampede’ at Maha Kumbh: DIG | India News

Multiple media outlets and social media handles quoted these witnesses as saying that many people were injured in the alleged 6am rerun of Wednesday’s Akhara Marg stampede, triggered by waves of pilgrims running towards the ghats just when batches that had just bathed at Sangam were making their way back. Some reports alleged “six to seven casualties” in the ensuing chaos.
DIG (Maha Kumbh) Vaishnav Krishna said Mela police would conduct a probe. “We have a strong network of CCTV cameras across the campus. We will go through the footage, although the Mela police have no information about any such incident.”
