BJP State spokesperson Vinusha Reddy has asked the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) to support the State government’s initiatives that will secure Andhra Pradesh’s bright future instead of opposing development.
Speaking to media persons here on Saturday (October 18), Dr. Vinusha Reddy said with the Centre’s vision to make India a global leader in Artificial Intelligence (AI), Visakhapatnam is set to become the AI City of India, and Andhra Pradesh the AI Hub of South East Asia. The Centre has taken major steps to strengthen the AI ecosystem. The India AI Mission, approved in March 2024 with an initial budget of ₹10,371 crore, received a major boost in September 2025 when funding was doubled to ₹20,000 crore — a strong reflection of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s commitment to making India a global AI powerhouse.
Global tech leader Alphabet Inc., Google’s parent company, has announced the establishment of the largest AI Data Centre outside the USA in Andhra Pradesh, with an investment of ₹1.3 lakh crore over four years. This 1 GW Compute Centre will be connected by an undersea cable network linking 12 countries across South East Asia, placing Visakhapatnam on the global digital map, she pointed out.
“This is the biggest Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) ever for Andhra Pradesh — the result of one year of dedicated efforts by both the Narendra Modi government at the Centre and the NDA Government in the State,” she said adding the project will create around 1.8 lakh direct and indirect jobs and will transform Vizag into a global AI innovation hub.
Reacting to the criticism by leaders from Karnataka State against A.P. for attracting investments, Dr. Vinusha Reddy said the Congress government in the neighbouring State should address the issues concerning the investors in their State like high taxes, poor infrastructure, and rising industrial discontent. “Using words like ‘parasite’ or ‘scavenging’ and speaking of banning the RSS only expose their intolerance. They should focus on improving governance and infrastructure rather than attacking progress in other States,” she said.
On YSRCP spreading misinformation about investments in the State, Dr. Vinusha Reddy asked if YSRCP is against investments in Andhra Pradesh? “Is the YSRCP against Vizag becoming India’s AI Hub? What is former Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy’s stand on Google’s ₹1.3 lakh crore investment?” she questioned.
